In this pairing the smaller airport calls the shots. London flies almost everywhere in Europe several times a day; Valencia has far fewer routes, and some only run on certain days of the week. So in practice, what leaves Valencia decides which destinations are even on the table. Picking the plan from the London side first and then working out how the Valencia person gets there tends to end in long layovers or a fare that shouldn't have cost that much.
That's why it pays to start the other way round: enter both cities at once and let each one's real routes cross. You'll get destinations that are well priced from both ends, and the split stays visible so it isn't always the Valencia side paying the expensive ticket. If someone in the group lives nearer Alicante, add it as another departure city: that second airport sometimes opens destinations Valencia doesn't serve.
Check whether the price includes a connection, too. Some of the cheap fares out of Valencia go through another airport, and you pay for that in hours. In the search options you can keep direct flights only and see how much the price moves. Bear in mind the table is a rough snapshot taken from recent searches: the real fare is the one you see when you check it live.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Valencia decide the destination rather than London?
Because Valencia has fewer routes and some don't fly every day. London reaches almost anywhere, so the destinations you share depend on what Valencia has that day. That's why it's worth trying more than one date.
Do the prices include flights with a connection?
They can, if that's the cheapest option in recent searches. If only direct flights will do, switch on that filter in the search options: the result may change destination or cost more, but you'll know where you stand.
What if one of us flies from Alicante instead of Valencia?
Add Alicante as another departure city for that person. Everyone counts from their own airport and the group total is worked out across all of them.
